Aerial of a remote village surrounded by subsistence plots southwestern Ethiopia's Sidamo Region. The area is home to more than 40 different sub-tribes of the Sidama's People, who rely mostly on the raising of cattle and subsistence farming in the harsh and barren land. The crops are raised, harvested and stored in a communal fashion. In past years these huts would have been spread out all over the area with each family raising and tending its own crops, through villagization (grouping the isolated peasant plots in one central village), the farmers were able to produce more food by helping each other out.
