Ethiopia

In a crude but effective, age-old, technique of separatiing the grain from the chaff, a native boy drives cattle in a circle over freshly cut teff tossed under hoof by another villager (right), in remote southwestern Ethiopia's Sidamo Region. After completing this day-long task, the pulverized chaff is tossed in the air and the heavier grain falls to the ground as the lighter chaff blows away.
